Many of ex-summit participants and host families in the U.S. have been trying to contact with friends in Japan after the earthquake and tsunami.
We, CIE, are very much impressed by such grassroots friendship has expressed in so many ways between America and Japan even in this tragic situation.
Your participation will cheer up Japanese people and help recovery of Japan.
Kochi is very peaceful place with rivers and mountains.
Join the Summit and let's share our thoughts and mind in Kochi where John-Manjiro was born.

Key Person : Yasushi Uchida
I am a medical Doctor and Chair of Tosa John Manjiro Society which has been established in 2010.
The mission of the Society is to let young people, especially middle and high school students, know how much John Manjiro contributed with his abundant knowledge, learned in USA, in opening of Japan to foreign countries and to the advancement of Japanese culture to the masses.
We have started the activities such as the promotion of international friendship exchanges and familiarization of English and music.
Welcoming American people during Grassroots Summit is one of our main missions. We are now planning many fun activities; such as fishing in Usa Bay, shellfish gathering in Urato Bay, and visiting a kinder garden and an elementary school. It is our hope these experiences will enrich and share the Japanese culture with Americans to foster a deeper relationship between the two countries.
